Clare and Ben – World Land Speed Record

Profile from STEMNET’s Leading Light series of a new generation of young people using their STEM skills to push the boundaries, and to make the world a better and more exciting place to live.

“We’re working on one of the most exciting engineering challenges in the world. It doesn’t get better than that!”

Clare Wood and Ben Evans

Clare Wood and Ben Evans are research officers at the Civil and Computational Engineering Research Centre at Swansea University and part of the team working on BLOODHOUND SCC – a supersonic car which is being designed to break the world land speed record.

Clare and Ben are pictured in an industrial wind tunnel – the computational fluid dynamics supercomputing they work on is the modern day equivalent of months of wind tunnel testing.
