Producing the next generation of engineers

A new website called ‘Gocracker’ has now gone live. is an initiative from Crackergroup, which aims to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for a career in science, engineering and technology (SET) amongst secondary schoolchildren, their parents and their teachers.

On, pupils and their teachers can access over 500 websites where they will find information and news about STEM subjects, industry sectors, apprenticeships, colleges and universities. Leading employers such as Rolls-Royce, National Grid, Petrofac and Mott MacDonald are already supporting the initiative.

Many large employers including Caterpillar, Babcock, ExxonMobil and Atkins, who are working hard towards developing a more gender-balanced workforce, use the new area of the site dedicated purely for females – WinSET (Women in Science, Engineering and Technology) – to speak directly to female engineers and scientists of the future. has been built with a responsive design enabling it to be viewed on smartphones, tablets, computers and even televisions through a games console.
