There are a number of elements:
- Videos and activities, 11-14 yr olds
Ten short (~ 4 minute) videos featuring interviews with a wide range of people from a variety of employment areas (‘themes’). For example, a glass artist and a football club physiotherapist. Each has a practical activity linked to the video. These are for 11-14 year olds and mapped against the Key Stage 3 Science Programme of Study and the Scottish equivalent. They bring workplace science into the classroom and contextualise pupils’ learning.
- Options presentation
A presentation for you to adapt and use to promote science and maths in your school or college particularly when students are making qualification choices. It covers reasons for studying science and maths and the skills they develop as well as some case studies. Download from below.
- Assembly material
Two sets of assembly materials which can be used in different ways, such as, role plays for students or a simple speech. The first looks at the use of technology in sport and is developed for use with 11-14 year olds and the second is for post-16 students and looks at the development of forensic science and implications of having a DNA database.
- Career Examples List
We have also produced a list of career examples which is broken down by topic area e.g. Living things, Energy and motion etc. This is to help you contextualise your lessons and can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
