Engineering scholarship available

One of the most prestigious engineering scholarships at Imperial College London will now be awarded every year to one exceptional undergraduate who has already taken a gap year to work in industry before starting their course.

The Kingsbury Scholarship awards one new Home/UK student each year with £19,000 per annum for the full duration of their 4-year Engineering MEng course. Candidates must first work for a year in the UK engineering industry, must have a firm offer for an undergraduate engineering course at Imperial and must have a household income of under £60,000 per annum.

The ultimate aim of the scholarship is to incentivise very bright students to seek work in the UK engineering industry when they graduate, rather than moving into the City or abroad.

Imperial College are working with YINI (Year in Industry) to find candidates, and in 2011 awarded the inaugural Kingsbury Scholar to a first-rate student who worked at Scottish Power for a gap year through YINI before starting her Aeronautics course in September 2012.
